Helping Kids Cope Up With Smoking
Dealing with troubled teenagers would definitely be among the toughest of phases each parent faces. These kids may do all sorts of things to quench the anger they have inside. Several factors underlie as reasons for the rage of a troubled teen.
Parents would resort to all sorts of solution just to curb their kids’ outrage. Teen boot camp and other similar support groups would be really helpful. However, parents themselves could always make the first efforts on dealing with their kids’ problems.
Does your kids smoke? I have here several suggestions on how to help your teenager kick their smoking habits:
Parents should always lead by example. Let them know you disapprove of smoking. Your teen will be inspired by your resolve to get healthy. Use discipline when they do smoke. Make them feel that you are indeed serious. Leave around articles on smoking and its effects on the human body in places where your child spends time.
Of course, a great way to help your teenager stop that habit is by encouraging them to talk to you about their smoking. Open communication with your teenager should be established. Establish that you love them unconditionally.
Don’t lose hope if your child does not want to confide in you. A favorite aunt, an older sibling, a school counselor or a non-smoking friend would always be great people for them to speak with.
There are many solutions in helping your child to stop his bad habits. According to American novelist E. W. Howe, “Raising children is like making biscuits: it is as easy to raise a big batch as one, while you have your hands in the dough”.
