Guiding Teenagers To Quit Smoking

Any parent would agree to the fact that raising teenagers would be among the most difficult of periods on parenting. Most, if not all, of these kids feel very helpless with their issues. Several factors underlie as reasons for the rage of a troubled teen.
Parents would resort to all sorts of solution just to curb their kids’ outrage. Teen boot camp and other similar support groups would be really helpful. However, parents themselves could always make the first efforts on dealing with their kids’ problems.
Does your kids smoke? I have here several suggestions on how to help your teenager kick their smoking habits:
Parents should always lead by example. Let them know you disapprove of smoking. Your child will feel that you really care for them. Educate them as well about the health hazards and risks involved with smoking. Make them feel that you are indeed serious. Leave around articles on smoking and its effects on the human body in places where your child spends time.
Of course, a great way to help your teenager stop that habit is by encouraging them to talk to you about their smoking. If you have a relative in poor health as a result of smoking, talk to your teen about them. Be honest with your teen and expect honesty in return.
Don’t lose hope if your child does not want to confide in you. A favorite aunt, an older sibling, a school counselor or a non-smoking friend would always be great people for them to speak with.
Showing your kid that you love them can be found in a number of ways more than we could imagine. As was said by home living author Carolyn Coats, “Children have more need of models than of critics”.
