Fluoride Controversy
We’ve all heard of it. But what exactly is it and why is there such a big controversy about something that we come into contact with everyday?
The first type of fluoride is a by-product of an estimated 50 industries. To name two, the heavy manufacturing and agro-chemical industries. This is called sodium fluoride.
Before fluoridation began, fluoride components were listed as one of four top pollutants in America by The Science Advisory Committee to Lyndon B. Johnson, according to Health Wars author Phillip Day. This is scary in itself, but even worse is that after fluoridation began nothing more was heard about it.
The second type is more soluble and less toxic than the first. it is calcium fluoride and is the type found in nature.
It is interesting to note that the first major proponent of fluoridation was the aluminum industry. (Day, 2001) Why? Industries had a huge problem on their hands with all of the toxic fluoride they were putting it out. So of course, let’s ‘wash it up a bit’ and feed it to consumers. What could it hurt?
There have been horrible cases of mass poisoning of fluoride in the water supply. In 1981, 18 villages in the Liucin Township were severely stricken with maladies ranging from mottled teeth to shrunken limbs and even early death. Over 80% of the townspeople were affected. And it was not fixed until 1983. (Seybolt 13)
As far today, critics say that the decay rates of children’s teeth are no different in fluoridated cities than in those non-fluoridated. If anything, the overconsumption of sugar and poor dental hygiene is being masked in these areas.
Research has shown that fluoride may be cumulative, and scientists have long known that fluoride in certain amounts can be detrimental and very harmful to our bodies.
In fluoridated cities there have been increased incidences of cancer & heart disease. Fluoride has also turned healthy cells into cancer cells, even causing genetic damage in lab tests.
I believe I am going to jump on the bandwagon for this one, along with France, Sweden, and the Netherlands, and say no more fluoride! Even some US locales have banned it. For my household, it will be only filtered water to drink, thank you!
